Museum Campus is a 57 acre park in South Loop along Lake Michigan and encompasses some of Chicago’s most notable museums as well as Soldier Field and Northerly Island. If you’re in the South Loop and looking for things to do near you, here are the days these museums offer free admission to Illinois residents in 2020!

Did you know that in Chicago’s dark sky you could see 4500 stars with the naked eye? The Adler Planetarium is the first planetarium in the United States and has exhibits and sky shows that are “out of this world”! Even better, Adler Planetarium has plenty of events to keep your attention so you don’t “space” out. Check out monthly events like Sun Salutations Yoga or Adler After Dark with upcoming dates on Saturday, February 1st and Thursday, February 20th.
The Field Museum houses over 30 million historical, cultural, and scientific artifacts and collections designed to “inspire curiosity about life on Earth”. Right now, check out the exhibit, “Fantastic Bug Encounters”, which includes hands on activities and workshops for all ages.

The Museum of Science and Industry is located in South Loop’s Jackson Park, the historic site of the 1893 Columbian Exposition World’s Fair.
Learn about the differences between the genetic versus epigenetic factors that play into an animal’s physiology as you watch chickens hatch right before your eyes. “Invent the Future” in the Fast Forward exhibit, as you surround yourself in a world of tomorrow’s inventions. In addition to numerous exhibits, the museum also features interactive experiences like a submarine simulation and a virtual reality space walk.
The Shedd is a 5,000,000 gallon aquarium housing over 32,000 animals. Visit Annik, the new born Beluga whale, get some quality time in a meet and greet with a Magellanic or Rockhopper penguin, touch a stingray, or see the aquarium at night during one of the “Asleep With The Fishes” events.
