Even though it may look a little different this year, Halloween is still on! We know you’ve already been wearing a mask and eating candy for a few months now, but if you’re still looking for ways to celebrate the fall festivities, here are some Halloween activities near downtown Chicago!
Head to Lincoln Park Zoo for seasonal activities including a pumpkin walk, a haunted trail, themed food, seasonal cocktails, and a socially distant movie. The outdoor animal exhibits will be open (with nocturnal species most likely to be active during the event). The Great Pumpkin Glow is Thursday, October 29th 6:30 to 10pm. Grab a hot cider and get your tickets here!
The Music Box Theatre will take over Chi-Town Movies Drive In through October 31st for screenings of horror movies, ranging from classic favorites to rarely screened films as well as filmmaker Q & A, pre-show entertainment, live trivia with prizes, and double features on Fridays and Saturdays. Admittance begins 30 minutes before the film’s scheduled start time. Although the event is technically a “drive in” you can still attend without a car by bringing your own lawn chair and purchasing a ticket online.
“I Put a Spell on You” is a new Halloween pop up bar is now open at the Homestead rooftop in West Town. Chefs Chris Teixeira and Christo Vlahos named menu items after the most quotable lines in the 1990s cult classic film, “Hocus Pocus”, like the “Amok!” cocktail and “The Devil Himself” fried chicken dish. The “I Put a Spell on You” pop up is open evenings through November 8th with a special themed brunch menu on weekends.
